Light rail

The ASA sets requirements for assurance activities for light rail assets within NSW. These activities include defining the principles, high level design parameters and developing standards that are determined by Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) as applicable to light rail assets delivered by and operated on behalf of TfNSW.

Application of these principles, standards and high level design parameters in the development of light rail systems will provide whole of life economic benefits for all current and future TfNSW light rail networks.

Current light rail specific requirements are listed below.

Please note: New light rail standards will be progressively published throughout 2017. Once the suite of light rail baseline documents has been substantially published, technical note TN 078: 2016 will be updated to align with the new listing of light rail standards. Until TN 078: 2016 is updated, users should note that some of the standards referenced in the technical note are superseded by the new light rail standards listed below. Any discrepancies or conflicts should be referred to the ASA.
